What the difference between Session Classes and Recital Classes?
Here at Arts ‘n Motion, the bulk of our dance program is our Full Year Recital Season. This is a 35-week program that begins in September and ends with our annual Dance Recital at the beginning of June. Registration for this program begins in early June and registration is open until classes fill. We usually allow registrations to continue (depending on availability) until Dec 1st. Tuition for our full year program is based on a monthly fee depending on the number of hours taken per week. The required recital fee (in addition to monthly tuition) covers the recital costume, tights, any necessary accessories AND two (2) tickets to the annual recital (additional tickets can also be purchased closer to showtime). Recitals are held at Annapolis Area Christian School, Kerr Center for the Arts in Severn.
In addition to our full year program, we offer a select number of Session Only classes. Because our full year program is so popular, these session classes are added in to our schedule where studio space and instructor availability allows. Session classes between September and June run in 6-week increments: Fall I and II, Winter I and II and Spring. Class availability is limited during these seasonal session classes as we fit them in around our full year program. Tuition for session classes is due in full at registration and there are no additional fees as session classes do not have a recital commitment. Summer Session classes are structured to allow for family vacations and other summer commitments. We offer three, 3-week sessions during the summer months (one in June, one in July and one in August). Summer is a great time to try a variety of classes as our schedule is more open once the full year program has wrapped up.
We are frequently on Waiting Lists for our classes at Arts ‘n Motion. The best way to grab a spot in our popular session classes in the event they are full is to add your dancer to the waitlist. You can do this by visiting the Schedule Page and choosing the class you are interested in. You will see a WAITLIST tab next to any class that is currently accepting waitlisted students. There is no charge to be on a waitlist. When a new session is available for registration, we allow priority registration for those currently registered and then we offer class spots to those on the waiting list. Adding your dancer to the waitlist ensures you will receive pertinent information regarding everything we offer at Arts ‘n Motion!
